Perspectives in Science Education: A Reconnaissance

A Seminar in Science Education

Summer 2001 at Georgia State University

"The process of growth, of improvement and progress...the ever-enduring process of perfecting, maturing, refining is the aim of living"-------John Dewey

This seminar is designed for students in the Science Education Ph.D. Program at Georgia State University. In the spirit of Dewian philosophy, the seminar is designed so that teaching is indirect, and student's active participation is directed toward growth and understanding. Through a series of projects, class discussions, Internet activities, readings, writings and presentations, the seminar will help students delve into important historical as well as contemporary aspects of science education.
